Black Cat Blues

Black Cat Blues was a labor of love, a great time in the studio with many musical friends contributing.

Solar Studio and Michael Franklin have had a longtime close friendship with musician/artist Don Oriolo, the son of Felix the Cat creator Joe Oriolo. Michael has been working with Oriolo for 40 year, starting in 1992 with Rick Wakeman’s “Classic Tracks”, music for “Hello Kitty”, Gloria Gaynor’s “Xmas Presence” and many others.

Oriolo is a prolific song smith, writing songs for Ben E King, Jon Bon Jovi, Dr. Hook, Gloria Gaynor and others. Michael organized the Black Cat Blues sessions including many of his friends to join in recording some of  Don’s songs. Some artists came to the session with some songs of their own. The recording of each song is a wonderful story.  Just spending time with these great musicians, Edgar, Spencer, Allen, Bobby, Les and other was a joy.

A splendid time was had by all!
